Epigraphs

Inspired by several booktubers, I looked through all of my books in search of Epigraphs. Here are some of my favourites.

DISCLAIMER: I own a lot of German books, which means that I also included some Epigraphs in German,  I’m sorry if that bothers you, you will however find a translation of every German epigraph at the bottom of the page.

One day – David Nicholls

The elements of eloquence – Mark Forsyth

Whisper – Isabel Abedi

Tom Sawyer – Mark Twain*

Momo – Michael Ende**

Inkheart – Cornelia Funke***

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Huck Finn and
    Tom Sawyer swears
    they will keep mum
    about This and They
    wish They may Drop
    down dead in Their
    Tracks if They ever
    Tell and Rot.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
**(This is a shortened, translated version of “Twinkle twinkle little star” )
As your bright and tiny spark,
     Lights the traveller in the dark.
     Though I know not what you are,
     Twinkle, twinkle, little star.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
***Came, came.
Came a word, came,
came through the night,
wanted to shine, wanted to shine.
Ash.
Ash, ash.
Night.
